What did it lose 50% of it's value against? The CAD? The fed cut rates and crude (which canada has a ton of) is soaring. Just another economic cycle. Canadians still pay about 25% more for retail consumer goods than the US.

Lots of aluminum hat wearing people around here, stacking gold bricks next to their canned beans and shotgun shells in their basement...

The usd has lost more than 50% of its value vs gold, oil, and just about every other commodity the past 5 years or so.

Maybe you ought to buy some aluminum hats, since aluminum has also been a better investment than holding usd the past several years.
